I will probably be going to Rome on a little side trip in July.
Does anyone know a nice but reasonably priced/cheap hotel there?
I am just going for a few days to visit a friend there and I don't want to spend a fortune (I am already spending that on the plane tickets).
 
plenty of hostels within walking distance of the main station, this would be your cheapest option. Although they are clean and relatively nice inside if you have privacy issues it might not be your thing. In which case you will probably end up paying twice what the most expensive hostel costs for an equivalent "hotel".
 
I stayed in Hotel Embassy and I liked it.. It's in the Spanish Steps area..

Not a bad hotel, nice place to start out.
