Going to Rome (Italy) - anyone here know the city?

Hi there,

I'm going to Rome for a conference, and I was wondering if anyone here is Italian or knows the city well enough to be able to advise about shopping. I'd like to check out a few cosmetics - mind you, I'm NOT talking about expensive stuff, more like regular, everyday kind of deodorants, perfumes, other trinkets like that.

Basically, I'm wondering if
a) the city is more expensive than the rest of the country
b) I can find large department stores or shopping malls

I've already figured out what I want to see from a tourist's perspective 🙂
now I have to take care of gifts and such.

If anyone can give some good advice, it will be very appreciated.

You'd be hard pushed NOT to find shops if you go into the city centre.
I've been there a couple of times, finding shops is a piece of cake. I don't know how prices compare though.
