Going to Rivera Maya... any advice?

I will be getting scuba certified down there. I'll be there for a week. Any advice on water, clothing, anything would be appreciated.

I was down there in July 2003 and needless to say it was pretty hot. Where are you staying? I stayed at the Bahia Principe resort...

... didn't scuba dive, but floated around drunk in a pool 😛

I wore mostly beach clothing the whole time, but be sure to bring a few pairs of nice pants especially if you are staying at a resort with fine dining.
 
Water? bottled of course. Or beer🙂
If you like archeology take the time to vist Tulum.
The diving there is great, and it is fine along the reefs south of Cozumel Island. I spent a week at Cozumel diving and vacationing.
