Why not go for a Gigabyte board? I have always used gigabyte boards since I got into computers a few years back. My GA-7NNXP has seen 8 different socket A processors, 5 different video cards, and at least 10 different hard drives and still runs 100% stable. My new K8N I've had for about 1/2 year and the only problem is the chipset heatsink gets really hot. I contacted Gigabyte and they told me this was normal. I haven't had any problems with any gigabyte board, whether it was for myself, friends, or family. Good Luck!

TheNiceGuy, honestly you'll get a lot of personal replies to everyone's likes. Now I've personally only used Abit for the past 7 years, and they've never given me problems.

I'm running the KN8 SLI listed in my GameRig. I did quite a bit of looking into boards before going with this one, and still sticking to Abit, and I've never regretted it.

This is a great stable, SLI gaming board, also with all Japanese Caps, hard to beat, or get in this price, along with the passive cooling.

Abit ---> http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/techspec.php?categories=1&model=306

Granted the placement of the floppy connector, and molex below the PCI slot has a bit to be desired, but I don't use a floppy on my game box, no need for it really, beyond that the board has no flaws I have found.

ALOHA

Sorry, should have mentioned, I don't need the SLI, but if it has it, thats nice. Also, the board must match my current periferal hardware, ie fit my socket 939 chip.
Which specific board would you recommend?

And thanks again!

My ASUS A8N-SLI Premium died suddenly and without warning a few months ago. I replaced it with an MSI K8NGM2-FID and couldnt' be happier. It's mATX s939 and works great especially if you don't overclock.

I'm done with ASUS, their boards just don't last for me. Just like DFI. :(

Gigabyte is the only way to go. lol j/k but yeah you are going to get a bunch of opinionated posts. In general, over the years I have heard good things about MSI, Abit, DFI, and Gigabyte
