Going to reformat, any suggestions?

bookmarks?

EDIT: If you have emails on your HD. Or, installation files for old versions of programs you like. Sometimes the new versions aren't to your liking.

Once you have a clean and updated Windows install, create a backup image of the clean system. You can then restore this backup image in the future in lieu of a clean install all you'll have to do is to install the subsequent updates (after which, you can then re-image your updated clean install for future use). Far quicker than doing a clean install from scratch.

thanks for all the good suggestions.
basically im saving everything I need on a thumb drive, then going to reformat. then install windows, install drivers, install programs, put files on the hd. then take system image. that is basically it right?
thanks!

what is the system you will be reformatting? a single hard drive? if yes then maybe partition in 2 if big enough and keep important data on the second partition. also, if possible, keep a second back up on a dvd or cd and put the date on it. I use an external hard drive which is updated once every week or so.

D😀😀:

Do yourself a favor... get another thumb drive or, better yet, an external HDD or something. Redundant data backups are the key. Once you nuke the data on your OS drive, that data is gone... and you will be relying 100% on that thumb drive. I wouldn't do it... 😵
