Hi,

I'm going to Providence RI and will be at the Providence Hotel. I will be there from Thursday through Sunday (fly out at 5pm) for a conference. The conference ends at about 4pm each day and doesn't occur on Sunday.

What are some sights/sounds/tastes/hookers that are must see/hear/taste/do there?

Thanks,

-Me

You know prostitution is legal in RI, right? What is illegal is solicitation on the street. This is why Providence has so many strip clubs.

EDIT: You could also take the commuter to Boston for $12.

So... I was joking about the hookers; I did not know it was legal. Thanks for the heads up though, wife seems excited.

Essentially, though, i'm getting that Boston has things to do while Providence is more :(?

Get in car.

Drive to Newport RI

Tour a couple of these: http://www.newportmansions.org/, especially the "Breakers" mansion. It will make your eyes pop out.

It is hard to fathom how rich some people were back in the early 1900s.

I went to Block Island for a wedding a few years back - doesn't seem like you'll have the time to check it out though, and it's still cold there this time of year. That said, I thought the place was absolutely beautiful and would be great to take a wife or SO there.

As for Providence itself, I was there for like 6 hours, sorry buddy. I also had no idea that prostitution is legal there...huh.

edit: hooray google/wiki - illegal again, since 2009. Darn!
