I am leaving for Ozzfest in Sacramento in a about an hour!

I cant wait to see Slipknot, Mudvayne, Drownig Pool, Disturbed, and His Holyness MARILYN MANSON!

Anybody else already been or going to Ozzfest soon?

Will be back to update later!:p

K heres the skinny on the show:

-The first band my friends and I checked out was OTEP on the third, who to my surprise were amazing, they had a very energetic female lead singer, I was quite impressed.

-Then we went over to the second stage to check out Drowning Pool, who just brought the house down when they performed Bodies, Crazieness Everywhere!

-After Drowning Pool, Taproot was on, Not much to say bout them. But Mudvayne was on after them, and any ounce of calmness that was in that place left when they started to play Digg.

-Now on to the maain stage: Some band called Black Label Society kicked off the main stage, Ho Humm.
Then Crazytown came out, BTW there was only like 5 mins betwen bands due to they had a rotating stage, Crazytown, not my favorite but put in a hard performance of the songs Darkside and Lollipopporn.

-Now for the sickness to begin Disturbed came out and just assulted the crowd with the song Enemy and moving along into Voices. An all around great hard hitting performance. Funny side note some girls were up front and not looking impressed so the lead singer of Disturbed stops the show and has everybody in the ampatheatre say at once to these girls: "Fvck Off"

-Linkin Park was next and they didnt seem to have a hold of the crowd the way Disturbed did. Great performance of Crawling and Papercut though.

-Papa Roach was up next, kinda wierd seeing them on such a grand scale after seen them in the littlest of dive bars all over Sacramento. Something ws wrong eith their sound but nooone seemed to care, they just kept on rockin through a 1/2 hour set that included: Blood Brothers, Broken Home, Between incects and angels, Dead Cell, and finally Last Resort.

-And Now My Favorite Part of the evening - SLIPKNOT these guys are entertainers to the end, 9 guys on stage, hydrolic lifted drum sets on both sides of the stage, pyro, and the main lead singer has one of the greatest stage presences I have seen in a long while. Best part of thier performance would have to be the song Spit It Out, got the entire place on its feet and singing.

-The next part of the eveing turned out to be a disapoitment, and it was Marilyn Mansons set. He has wowed me in the past with his shows but not this time, maybe its because he is part of such a large ensemble that he couldnt the largest scale of things.

-Not Much to say bout Black Sabbath but Ozzy is old and fireworks dont make up for it!

I was at the UK Ozzfest last month. It was amazing. Your lucky, Marylin Manson didnt play over here, i would have liked to see them. Black Sabbath were amazing, someone threw an inflatable doll on stage and Ozzy started dancing with it!!

Are Tool playing over there? They were the best band (after Sabbath that is!!). Personally I dont like Slipknot, but they seemed to entertain the crowd alright.

Soulfly also rocked. Tom Araya from Slayer came on and did a song with them. Me and my friend went round to the stage door after and saw him when he left!!!

A top day!!!

I was at Ozzfest when it kicked off in Chicago. Disturbed was the best, Mudvayne was pretty cool too. Other great performances, Slipknot, Linkin Park, and Papa Roach.

I don't really like Marilyn Manson... so I left soon after.

Tool is not playing Ozzfest. They are going to be doing their own headlining tour in the US with King Crimson.

And they are one of the best bands EVER.

Tool is playing the US again?! More then their 4 dates earlier this summer (that sold out in 3 minutes). I'll have to hit that show for sure if this is true. I thought they were over in Europe for the rest of the summer..

Ozzfest sold out here in 8 minutes, like it does every year.

MrBond,

The 4 dates earlier this summer were just to warm up before hitting overseas. They ARE playing a headlining tour in the US. I think 8 dates have already been confirmed.

Holy crap! Here's hoping they hit Detroit again. It'd be crazy cool if they hit Toledo, but most bands skip us over :(

Heading to the Tool site to find out where they're gonna be

Glad to see you enjoyed it.

Its always an issue in things like Ozzfest when you've got lots of different bands playing, that some will be great, and others just suck.

All of those bands BLOW, with the exception of Mudvayne. What's up with weak ass, trendy, dork 'metal'??? My impressions----

Disturbed--"Whoo hoo, I am sooo disturbed! Be scared!"
Linkin Park--"We are 15 and our parents bought us turntables!"
Papa Roach--I don't even know what the hell to say, they just sicken me.
Slipknot--Crappy singer, annoying noise band. Those dumbass guys hitting kegs arent even going through the PA at their concerts, they are just for show. Now that is retarded.

Quit holding MTV's hand and listen to some real metal.

Metallibloke---

I thought at first that Mudvayne was just another trendy MTV band, which it might be, but if you listen to their *other* songs, they actually have alot of talent. And it's not just heavy repetitiveness like in 'Dig'. They have an AWESOME bass player, and a very, very good drummer. Decent guitarist, and the singer can actually sing, if you know what I mean.

Anyway, let the flames begin!;)

Mackstann.....you are wasting your breathe by putting down those bands. I don't like them either but people are always going to like catchy songs and when it come to NUE Metal(which ruins the good name of metal), they have catchy songs that the mass public will like.

Who else thinks those two were there to see Crazy Town? I was curious how many people would get tickets JUST to see crazy town (due to "butterfly") and be afraid of the other bands there :p

I'm green with envy.

I live in Alaska and only get to see bands at least 10 years out dated. I have a friend though that just flew down to the lower 48 to see a Cradle of Filth concert.

I really need to go see a good concert. COF would have been fun, but I would LOVE to go to Ozzfest.
