going to new york! cheap places to stay at for under 50$?

I am looking for a cheap ass place to stay, me and my girlfriend are heading over there and we both do not care where we sleep really. The YMCA has decent place to stay at for 50$ a night.

Any places that I MUST see when I am there? I have a few places, but the more the better 🙂.

You mean Manhattan for $50/night? There are probably some nice benches in one of the subway terminals you could find...

Nah, the bums would raise the rent before you wake up. Youll end up rat food.

you go cheap in Manhatten you WILL be sleeping with roaches...just food for thought.
make sure to read reviews before you reserve a cheap hole in the wall

its at the YMCA.

It is like a HOSTEL , I think.

Anyone ever been there?

again, try to read reviews- I remember reading about the Y being very small- shared bathrooms etc...kinda like small dorms or somthin- but I was looking in to in a few years ago...
From what i remember, it seemed like the $100 range was about as cheap as I was willing to go to get a clean place with it's own bathroom.

i was supposed to stay there a couple weeks ago, i think it is like $25 bucks if you don't get a private room...

my friend has stayed there a lot and likes it, during the summer you have to pay extra for AC

wow, really? sounds great 😀.

Yeah, I am going for my spring break.

Hope its not TOO bad.

I'd stay at the Howard Johnson's a few blocks from Port Authority in midtown Manhattan. About the cheapest you'll find that won't disgust you.

Make sure to get a hot dog from Gray's Papaya on Broadway between W. 71st/72nd. Some of the best cheap eats in town. (Do they still have the "Recession Special"?)

For food:

If you're 21 and like wine and good chinese food, go to the Silk Road Palace. It's a little west of Central park. They give you free wine and they keep on bringing more and more. The food is also good. You can get dinner for about $11 per person. It got a 9.7 on Citysearch.

dude its ny, the most expensive city in the nation. min is like 90 bucks and thats in Long Island

i think like best western in westbury or something. make the reservation the same night. if they have room, they slash their prices. else try priceline.
