Oh, and definately something other than a VW Turbo...least reliable cars you can buy.
Once you learn how to drive a turbo car, you can eliminate the lag mostly.
I have 2002 GTI and have had no problems, except the Windows regulators..
One bad point.. the 1.8 Turbo requires high Octane Gas..

And how do you eliminate that? Slip the hell out of the clutch because you can't allow the engine to engage at low rpm?Once you learn how to drive a turbo car, you can eliminate the lag mostly.
