OK, so I am going to be in LA for 3 days from March 19-21. What is there to do? I figured one day we would go check out some beaches, I am sure it will probably be too cold though, what are the good beaches? or any other good sights to see?

I am staying in the Hilton Checkers Los Angeles in Downtown LA.

Thanks
Eddie

I recommend deciding what you want to do first, then finding a room somewhere in the middle. You will do a lot of driving as it is without making it harder on yourself.

Go to Newport beach or venice beach boh are pretty alive during spring break... If you want a girl gone wild type episode try and make your way down to Palm Springs. It's insane there.

If its your first LA visit, I recommend you go to Santa Monica and check out the third street promenade along with the pier.

Venice or going down the shore line towards Newport/Huntington Beach is also a great visit. At night, maybe take a trip to Sunset Blvd and get a hooker or two :) than come to my place and we'll have a dandy good time :)

danny~!

Where is Palm Springs? according to mapquest, it is not on the coast, but it looked like there was a lake there??

would it be somewhere worthwhile going to? or should I just stay in LA?

Oh, another question, isn't there tours of universal studios, are those worth the time?

Universal studios is cool, I'd go there again. There's a tram which is basically the biggest attraction (very long, tons of stuff to see).

Just rent a car. You get everywhere by freeway and if you are a guy you should have a decent sense of direction.

I would say go to:
Third Street Promenade and Pier in Santa Monica
Disneyland (just to tell your friends you went)
Universal Studios (same reason as above)
Magic Mountain (FUN!!!)
Newport/Huntington/Manhattan/Hermosa; Not much going on now I think. Not much to do either if you don't plan to lay down on the beach.
Hollywood Blvd and Chinese theater; Interesting if you are a tourist.
South Coast Plaza for shopping (huge, lots of designer stores)
Camarillo outlet or the one in Palm Spring for more shopping
Sunset blvd for clubbing (I don't think you can cruise down the blvd anymore because traffic is crazy on weekend nights)
Rowland Heights/San Gabriel/Alhambra/Monterrey Park for GOOD chinese food.

I would stay on the Westside. There is nothing to do in downtown and is pretty dead at night

I'm always confused by that. So the city is in reality "La Puente" right?

No, Rowland Heights is an "area". It's ran or more correctly left alone by L.A. County. :p Hence the massive infestation of small business/restaurants with poor design in no regards to size, parking, noise, traffic, etc.

La Puente is a whole different city, several miles away.

I'd go to Magic Mountain, Disneyland, Holywood, West LA (Santa Monica, Citiwalk, 3rd Street), and Orange County beaches along w/ the malls/plazas there (The Block, South Coast, Irvine Spectrum). Irvine Spectrum got twice as big now... but parking got twice as worse also. The parking lot is so huge that you have to take a free shuttle/tram.

My friend lives 4 blocks from the HK supermarket plaza and that's La Puente. I guess I will keep referring the area as Rownland heights as long as people understand :)

It's basically an open air street with a bunch of shops, restaurants, homeless people begging for money, and street acts. It's one of my favorite places in LA! u have to go :) But make sure u go on fri or sat. the best street acts are out there then.

Here's the places I think you should go...

1. Universal City Walk
2. Venice Beach/Boardwalk
3. Disney/Six Flags
4. Eat somewhere in monterey park...if u are into chinese food!
5. If you are into concerts. see who's playing at Holllywood Bowl. That place is cool
6. If you are into museums, go to Getty
7. Hollywood (walk of fame is down there and a bunch of shops)
8. Sunset (for clubbing and night life)

Note: The official law on Sunset Blvd. is that if you pass by the same point more then once within 4 hours you can be ticketed for cruising. Now, unless there's a really distiguishing feature on your car, I doubt its a problem. Yes, traffic moves slow on weekend nights starting about 9ish.
