Problems like this are the kinds of problems that sour an entire brand name. Dealerships need to be more proactive about giving whatever level of customer service is necessary to prevent stories like this from making it to internet forums.

I know I don't qualify yet, but it's getting close. That's why I'm trying to document everything I can and learn about the arbitration process. They did provide a loaner but I need something that can haul stuff and this focus isn't cutting it. I agree on not being an an ass, but I want some leverage to say "This is getting awfully close to qualifying as a lemon in my state, I'd rather not go down that path but I will if we don't get some resolution to this (as in give me a new car or replace motor)."

Why not ask them if they can get you a more suitable standby until they fix the issue? If they don't, then start pressing the lemon law business.

While I know they are not required to give you a comparable car, I would figure a guy who has a similar problem with a full sized pickup would not consider a Focus a suitable loaner, so why should the owner of an Edge be any different?

I'd figure it is worth asking if they need the car for a little longer to get the problem corrected.
