So my girlfriend's parents are sending us out to Hawaii for a five day vacation in March. Now I know nothing about Hawaii other than it is pretty, has beaches, etc. and the two of us are planning what to do with our five days there. We have general ideas about what we want to do like snorkeling, para-sailing, surfing, swimming and exploring via hiking (pretty stuff to hike through is highest priority). But we have no idea which Island to even go to since they all seem to have everything. Any suggestions?

My gf just went to Hawaii with her family. They spent the weekend on Kaua'i and did the 8 mile round-trip hike along the Na Pali coast on the north side of the island. She said it's an extremely hard hike (all rocks and stuff for the 8 miles) but it was awesome. There's a huge waterfall at the end or something. Sorry I don't have any more details.

I'll leave you to google these, but what i've seen on TV that I liked was they truck you up a volcano, but then you get to go down the volcano on a mtn bike. Very cool. Also you should visit a white sand beach and ESP a black sand beach. Go to a beach where you and your gf can be nude, for the wow factor, i'll be there w/ my camera for the AT crowd.
Oh also, there is a island that USE TO BE owned by Del Monte (or whatever). Now its privatly owned and is a haven for the elite rich, but us normal folk can still visit it. It looked very nice and peaceful.

Kauai is pretty remote. VERY pretty, but no "cities" there.
Maui is more crowded, but has lots to do.
O'ahu is HELLA crowded in/around Honolulu/Waikiki Beach, (think tropical San Francisco) but the rest of the island isn't too bad most of the time.
The Big Island (Hawaii) is less crowded than Maui, but still has lots to do. For me, the down side is all the lava flows. Being the youngest island, it still has lots of raw lava flows that give much of the island kind of a moonscapt look...especially around Kailua-Kona, where the main airport is.

We like Maui and average at least one trip there per year. We just sold our timeshare because with my disabilities, it's too dammed tough for me to make the trip. With the "laundry list" of activities you have, any of the islands should be OK, BUT, they discontinue the para-sailing during whale season, so you may not be able to do that in March.
If your main activity is hiking, then either Kauai or Hawaii will be your best bets IMO.
