Hi guys and gals, :)

First off, long time no see... Sorry, been real busy with life lately.

I am going to have to remove all vestiges of any DC project (Currently only SETI) here at work. (Actually it has already been done, I just finished a few minutes ago.)

Many of the pcs here are either, ones I have built and donated, (Thus giving me the right to run DC) or privately owned (Also mostly built by me.. :) ) and so I was able to run SETI as long as I demostrated that it did not slow anything down.

But they are providing us with all new pcs and that means all of the privately owned ones have to go. The tech board has decided that only needed programs (word processing etc.) will be installed and rather than get into a big discussion about it I have decided that, at this time, my energies are better spent elsewhere.

I want to thank all of you for the help in the past and as soon as things get a little more sane in my life I will try and make it back.

I will continue to produce from home but the numbers will be down. :(

That's a bummer Rob, but I know well that kind of dissappointment -- all this CPU power here where I work and for the most part I can't access any of it. :(

Unless we're doing a burn-in on new machines like yesterday/today. ;)

ishmael2k,

I would like to thank you for all of the work and effort you have put forth for the TeAm. :)

We are going to miss your production but I sure hope we don't miss you personally hanging around the forum. ;)

If they're getting rid of privately owned PCs, you should have the right to get them back and sell them, right? And I'm sure there are some people around here who would take them...

So if you go sell them here, since the mods won't let you sell anything here, maybe they could still at least crunch for some member of the TeAm.

Sorry to hear that, Rob.

As Ken said, as they're privately owned (ie you donated/bought them etc), then you should get them back, and sell them.

As well as the Deception.net site, there is also the Offsite forum I have set up, available here (and also in my sig), where we already have a FS/FT forum there, for this very purpose :)

I hope you're staying around in the forums, however :)

Thanks for your input :)

Sorry to hear your work PCs are going, but were happy that you and your home computers are still around!

As was said already, just because you are loosing a bunch of your fleet does not mean you are any less important. You say here in DC where we need ya.

Was it always a policy to not be allowed to sell anything here???

That's been the way recently. Back when, we were able to have FS threads to offer stuff to Team members, however that has not been the case for a few months now, and if we want to sell anything here, it has to go on FS/FT for the entire forum, not just DC. Hence why I have set up the FS/T section on my forum :)

:) Thanks for all the kind words, I didn't realize how much I missed this forum until I posted this thread.

As for the pcs here at work, I will be getting two of them back, (One right away the other fairly soon.) the others are all going home with their respective owners. (They paid me to build them.)

I will however be taking my own personal pc home also.. :) Dual P3/850 with 768mb so all is not gloom and doom.

Unfortunately the two I am getting back are rather low end but I have decided to go ahead and set up my home network and run them from there.

Now I think I need to change what I am running as the lower end ones don't do much for SETI. (One is a PP200 the other a P2/400)
I will have the following at home:
Dual P3/850 w/ 768mb
P3/700 w/ 512mb
P2/400 w 96mb
PP200 w/ 128mb

Any suggestions?

Thanks again all!

Rob

Sorry to hear you've lost your work fleet:( ,but I'm glad to hear you are still with us & crunching :D

Re the rigs you have left ,sell the PP200 & PII 400 & build an Duron 1.1GHz rig to replace them (that'll do about 5-5.5hrs/WU) ;)
