I agree...avoid the whole upstate NY by all mean... NH is ok, but not VT.

If you pick any school around Boston, it 's the best way to go. Oh, if you just want to get a Master for show, go to CityCollege in NYC. cheap, easy, and not much work...got my MSEE/CS in two semesters. Hm, thinking about getting my phD by next summer...if i cant find any job.

Lived in Havover for 6 years (Dartmouth) LOVED IT
It does get cold and the winters are long.
First rate area for outdoor activities. Boston is a coupla hours away if you feel the need for the city every now and again.
Lived in western VT too. Wasnt bad, but I liked NH better. Burlington (UVM) is a small city, and a good college town. Not outta control like many places. If you are in grad school, you are gonna be working your azz off, so you're better off anyway for that.

Thats the thing, I don't really need a huge party scene for grad school. The main things for me about Choosing a grad school is educational value, non-humid Summers, liberal attitude(I need a change from the midwest).

A little known fact UNH was ranked #7 in top 10 party schools of the year for 2k2 . Does that help?

My roommate is finishing up his grad school at UNH. He says their CS prog. is ok but OMG they have tons and tons of hot girls up there. Boston is not too far either and great atmosphere to study.
