Going to get a new car, should i get a Volvo s60 or Saab 93?

I'm going to get my first car soon... and seeing as how i'm living in boston (aka home of the most insane drivers), i want something safe. I've narrowed my choices to the s60 and saab 93. Which one should i get?

S60.
Saab are not reliable cars, although they are nice looking and are great when they work.. they are expensive!
my friend works at a dealership.. needless to say he does not drive one..

s60. Volvo's are the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Boston, an armored car,1st choice,
maybe an Old Suburban thats rusty,and dented already?

given your choices, the Volvo, {lease it}

They are nice.. not sure if I'd personally buy some of the smaller ones... but one I would aspire to own is the V70-R. I love those....

Saab story, eh?

I heard they are decent cars but if anything goes wrong, parts are insane. I'd still like to drive one...

yes, very expensive to own.. they are nice cars to drive. honestly they are. my friend has a 99 (I think.. it might be a 2000) 9-3 turbo.. it's really nice.. but it breaks alot.

I like both. I had a chance to check out the new 9-3 at the local autoshow, and it's very nice. Saabs are kind of a love-em' or hate-em' thing, though.
I think I read one time that Saab had the highest percentage of people that test-drove their cars actually end up buying one, so they definitely have a unique appeal.

The problem with both cars is that they can get very expensive with options, and resale value is less than stellar compared to their German competitors.

I go Saab 93.

I agree, it's much better looking. If you have concerns about reliability, check out Consumer Reports. CR rates both company's highly.

rediculous.....go with the volvo, they have been the sweetest cars ever. anyway...who wants a saab? those things are hideous.

I owned a 900SPG. I loved that car, but fixing them isn't cheap. Volvo's are very nice and reliable. I have a 84 wagon with 219,000 miles on it. Doesn't smoke at all!

Volvo = Ford
Saab = GM

The difference is that Ford has pretty much allowed Volvo to remain autonomous, while GM has had rather more influence on Saab. My local mechanic says that Saabs have gone down in quality rather significantly lately, while Volvos have remained equal to their prior reliability.

have you test driven them both? That volvo is seriously a sweet car. It's comfortable, responsive, fun to drive, gets great gas milage, etc. Saab's quality has declined recently. I remember back in the early 90s they were sweet but now they strike me as average in terms of dependibility.
