Well, I've always loved garage sales and used to go to them a lot, but it got to a point in which the were not making up for the cost in gas. I figured I would go again just for fun this weekend.

Hm...

So what crazy stuff do you guys think I should look for?

I usually look for records, but then again, I'm a vinyl junkie. Most people sell LPs for $1 each when they are worth hundreds.

I usually find at least one thing at most garage sales that is worth $1000 or more but its only being sold for $10 to $50.

The key to garage sales is to be sure the garage will fit both your property, and the vehicles to be stored in it...;)

I'm a serious garage/yard sale junkie...and MY garage shows it...Gonna have a series of them this year to get rid of much of the junk I've accumulated over the years...

I look at furniture. I can't explain why, but that's the first thing that catches my eye when I cruise by a garage/yard sale. Followed closely by electronic stuff.

No kidding. I think I'd find a way to hit 3 or 4 every weekend at least.

I'll be doing some major garage sale shopping when i get back to the states. We sold all of our furniture instead of storing it before I headed over here.

Thats true for Pentax, but pre-ai stuff F-Mount stuff isn't too compatible with the current DSLRs.

Only a few are worth much money... The majority aren't even worth $1.

I used to go to garage sales as a recreational activity... It's amazing the things you end up buying. I used to look for old games that were fun to play but you can't find in stores any more. I bought a lawn darts set for $1 a couple years ago... My family spent more "together time" with that game than any other game over the last 15 years. I also get a lot of tools. Crappy hammers at the store cost $3 or 4. Good quality hammers at a store cost $20. Good quality hammer at a garage sale = $1. I got a craftsman radial arm saw for $30 last year... good deal!

I have a knack for getting their just to late:( Last year I pulled up to one just as a guy was walking out with a mid 70's fender stratocaster with an ear to ear grin, I asked him "what did you give for it?" he replied "you don't wanna know". I went on into the garage and asked the older lady running it if she had any musical instruments for sale, she said "No, I had an old gee-tar that my son left here years ago but some guy just bought it"

No way! I never see firearms at garage sales!

ANY condition 1911a1 is worth $200.
