Going to Dial Up from DSL... (maybe) Anyone else?

Well we are going to be moving this summer. I still don't know where yet, but it is in the same city.

This city is small and the only option we have is DSL, Dialup, or ISDN (the ISDN service is insane $$$ though).

So that leaves my options to DSL or Dialup. My problem is I might be moving far enough out that I can't get DSL. Like I said we are not sure where we will be moving yet, just that we are moving.

My chances are pretty good that I'll be back on the old 56k modem before the end of the summer 🙁 (I hope not though)

What are some good ISPs I can check into if I go back to Dialup. I had Earthlink last year before switching to Alltel DSL and it was pretty good. And no I want be using AOL 😉

yeah our cable service is horrible (Adelphia)

we have had Digital Cable since 1999 and they have said Cable modems since then too. Still no cable modems. We just did get DSL through the phone company last September.

A lot of Dial-ups use the same #. So go with one that is cheap. NO AOL. Like Netzero, or something that is $10-$15 a month.

Also make sure you have a good modem, maybe even a V.92

my modem that I have is a external USR modem. It was flashed to v92 last year before I got DSL.

Thanks I'll check DSLReports

They are only in the Southwest..don't know if you fit that description, but Everyone's Internet is great. $10/month, $30 setup fee.

I had them before I got DSL thru the phone company. I would've stayed w/them if they offered DSL. Check them out.

That's the same runaround I've gotten from Adelphia. I finally just said forget it and kept them modem. It's not THAT slow, I don't do much gaming anymore, and if I need to download something big, I can run over to my old job and use the T1.
