Must eats: Weber Grill on Ohio St just off Michigan Ave. Beer Can Chicken is damn tasty

Clubs: If your a danceing machine who loves good club music give SoundBar a try. We went to Vision and SoundBar was much better.

Enjoy a walk along the gold-coast area off Michigan Ave along the beaches. Hotties everywhere. Stroll through Lincoln Park and hit up the Boutique shopping places as well.

soundbar and transit were my two favs, graduated last yr

you're not too far from bob chinn's, if you like seafood. but i think it's mostly a "midwest, we can't get good seafood anywhere else" kinda thing.

Mr. Beef on Orleans is a Chicago must if you like a good gardiniere (sp?)

Portillos is where it's at for sandwiches and dogs

Portillos has good food, but they are essentially like McDonalds now in the Chicagoland area. The Mr. Beef on Orleans is worth the trip if you want a good italian beef sandwich . IMO

There is a Lou Malnatti's in Buffalo Grove, across the street from St. Mary's school/church. Since you are from SF you don't need to make too much effort on the pizza though, just go to Zachary's in Berkeley, same thing, about 98% as good. :)

If you are a big music fan check out Hip Cat Records in Wheeling/Prospect Heights area (right next to BG). Haven't been there in YEARS so I am not sure if it is still around, but it used to be full of bootlegs, old tour posters, really cool rare stuff.

White Castle ftw! Just make sure your stomach can handle it; they call 'em sliders for a reason :D

And how could nobody mention Uno? Uno IS Chicago deep-dish... Sila is good, but you'd have more fun downtown that running up 41/94 to Lake Bluff.

Yeah, if you like clubs, Sound-Bar is a must (techno or rap/r&b/top40, one floor for each), www.sound-bar.com, though Vision is huge if you like big clubs, and there's some awesome DJ's spinning in the near future.

i'm not sure if i'll go to the clubs or not.. it's not really fun to walk into a club alone.. although i guess that can be an advantage..

i checked yahoo maps, and it said that buffalo grove is about 30 mins out of where silo pizza is, so i think i'll definately give that a shot.. besides, getting a good pizza for $20 that can feed me for 2 days is a great deal to me..

i've tried zachary's in berkeley, and i thought it was freakin hella good.. so i think i'll definately get some deep dish while i'm out there.. funny that i would go to chicago for deep dish, when i'm too lazy to drive 20 mins to zachary's for their deep dish

I think Vision lies about the DJ's they are bringing in. We were there last Saturday night, a duo of headliners were supposed to be there, they never showed. The house DJ they had was good but started spinning Top 40 & Rap at 1am bascially off a CD, no mixing at all. We bailed around 1:20am as the DJ area was not getting set-up for the headliners.

Sound-Bar has a much better dance floor, cheaper beer, and an awesome sound-system. The whole war-camo theme is pretty damn cool too.
