Going to Canada from the US...

You can get in with any form of (Government) photo ID, but a passport is recommended.

You won't have any problems getting in if you are American though.

i always take a "raised seal" copy of my Birth cert just in case. sometimes they ask to see it, other times they don't, and just ask for my dl

take your passport just to be on the safe side.

and make copies of license+ passport incase you loose them

Yeah I don't have a passport, and am scrambling to try and find my birth cert but it eludes me.. should I just leave and chance it with just my license? 😕

Edit: Yup I'm a US Citizen, 28 y/o fwiw.

You don't NEED a passport till the end of this year I believe. I highly doubt you'd have any trouble getting in to Canada we let everyone in.

you don't need a passport. they are working on requiring that, but it keeps getting pushed back.

you DO need a license and birth certificate. a copy of your bc works. sometimes they will just check your license, but most of the time they ask to look at your bc too.

Just found my BC after tearing my room apart, whoohoo! Thanks guys, wasn't leaving w/out it! 🙂 🙂:beer::beer::beer::beer::beer:

Getting into Canada is not what should worry you. Its getting back into the states... that gives you the trouble. You should be fine as long as you have something that proves you are a citizen. I have been informed by border patrol that a US drivers license does NOT do this on a number of occasions.
While a License may work 9/10 times I wouldn't want to be stuck in Canada for awhile...

Last time I drove up through New York to Canada a drivers license got us in and out with no problems. You should be fine, but I would take a passport if you have one... just in case.

Who said we wanted you to stay🙂😉

haha I didn't mean like that. I like Canada, well sorta but I just meant it would suck to be stuck at the border when I wanted to go back home 🙁
