well acually its my friends comp. he has to buy his parts from the store thats near him because he is far away from everything else and lives in canada. he's on a really tight budget. the only 2 choices he has is the ECS "755-A2" and the PC Chips "M-871G". he just needs something that is solid. he wont be overclocking. the pc chips one might be better since he doesn't have a videocard right now and doesn't have a big intrest in games. which one will be better?
heres newegg links to the parts:
ECS "755-A2"
PC Chips "M-871G"
thnx :)

ECS 755 A-2. I have 2, they both OC with decent memory to 210 easy, but thats about it (no PCI AGP lock) Never owned a PC chips, but I have heard nothing good about them, but I have heard bad...

I had a PC-chips board about 3 years ago and I'll never try one again.

I've had good experiences with ECS though ( built about 6 computers based on the ECS K7S5A with no problems :) )

I learned too. No cheap stuff. I'm sure you can pick up an m-atx board from a large company for about the same price, but with better quality.

The 755-A2 is a rock steady board, and great value. It has a very fast and stable chipset, runs 400MHz DDR mem (pc 3200), 200MHz FSB, 16bit hypertransport, etc., so it's no slouch, just not very overclockable. You will have to buy a video card to go with it, but you can pick one up fairly cheap nowadays, so that shouldn't be the sole purpose for choosing the PC Chips board. Good board for a budget system. I know, I just built one using this mobo, and I am very pleased with the results.
