Going to buy a Athlon X2 4800+ I need advice!

Based on many years experience, I would go with ASUS (any NF4 board from them). ASUS has the best bios support I have ever seen, and that the main reason. For an early adopter, good support is the best reason to go with them.

I like Asus boards too, although I've had good experiences with Micronics, American Megatrends, and MSI of late.

I think that Markfw900's suggestion of the Asus board for the client is a very solid one. High build quality, excellent warranty, and good tech support means for the client means theoretically less hassle for you.

BTW Markfw900 - sweet Opteron duallie you have there. Years ago I ran dual Pentium Pro 200/512Ks' in an American Megatrends Merlin DP board with 128MB of ECC EDO RAM. That was the sh1t back then! I only wish someone offered a Socket 939 board with 64-bit (PCI-X) so that I could get the full bandwidth out of my 29320 controller for my RAID array (4x36.7GB Seagate 336753LW Ultra320 68-pin).
 
Well, this is what I would run...

4400+ which probably OC's the same as the 4800+ (2.7-2.8GHz on air) and still has the 1MB per core. Save $500
2x6800GT's flashed to ultra. Same speed save $400
2x550W TruePower PSU's from Antec. You can use overpriced single psu's but they won't compare to two 550W PSU's inline. (requires proper case)
CoolerMaster Stacker I (not the newer 830) case which can run two PSU's inline, hold 12HD's with two 5.25 bays to spare and cooling specs to match. Save $200 over less powerful 850W PSU and case. Remember to get the 3 into 4 modules for the HD's.
Why do you need the power? Cause the CPU's and the hard drives will put a strain on the 12v rail and you need to leave room for reliability and efficiency.
4x512MB sticks of corsair value ram. Why? Cause ram runs like raid 0 and four sticks provide plenty of bandwidth. Zebo has a sticky about unnessesary expensive ram.
At least a raptor drive and at most a Fujitsu MAS MAS3735NC 73GB 15,000 RPM. That Fujitsu has a 3.3ms seek time for $450 OEM but requires a scsi card. Don't do anything silly like raid0.

some Antecs also have tight regulation
see tests at extremeoverclocking
temperature sensitivity is something to watch
sli ps configuration is not well sorted out yet- watch loads on each rail
with dual ps you can put all the (elictrially noisyand fans and other motors on their own rail 🙂
