I would suggest 2 Hdd's as that will give you something to back up to incase ur sys dies.
But other than that looks sweet. I personaly dont care 4 Intel but that is me.

What do you plan on doin that would warrant the 3.2 Extreme? They are alot more money. I would say if u want to pay that get an AMD Opteron.....

Its a Prescott (hence the 1MB of L2 cache, not 2MB of L3, like the Extreme Edition)... they're roughly $450 or so now (not the $900+ for the EE). :)

To the OP: What are you going to be doing with the computer? This makes a big difference to whether those parts are "good" or not. Certainly, its a nice, powerful system. Also, I would recommend looking into some aftermarket heatsinks--solely to make it quieter (the stock intel one is a bit loud). I'm also NOT a big fan of the Sonata... the Antec SLK3700AMB is much nicer in my personal experience.

Thank's everyone for their input.

The reasons why I'm putting so much into this pc is well:
1. It's for college, and I want this pc to last the entire 4 years. I'm not a heavy gamer, but I do enjoy playing from time to time. Overall, I just don't want to have to upgrade a lot, if anything, in 3-4 years.

2. My dad is paying for it as a bday/grad present, so I'm just gettin what eva I want! :)

also, I've asked around and changed a few things from the last configuration:

CASE: Antec SUPER LanBoy. (Nice cause it's light, and comes with 2 120mm fans)

CDRW/DVD- Lite-On Black 52X32X52X16 Combo (Instead of a seperate dvd drive, i just got the CDRW and DVD combo. I thought it'd be nice to have 2 drives, but then i took a more realistic approach and realized i dont even use the 2nd drive that i have in my current pc right now.

COOLING- Got a ZALMAN CNPS6500B-AlCu CPU Cooler for the processor.

HDD- Gonna get 2 Maxtor 80GB 7200RPM 8MB SATA Hardrives instead.

Power: Since the case doesnt come with a POWER supply, I picked up a Aspire 520W 12V Triple Fan Aluminum Power Supply.

And thats about it. All these changes make the new price to be $1917. Only 17 dollars more than the first price

if this rig is for college why not going with a

shuttle SN85 - $310
Athlon 64 3200+ $282
2x512mb ram $200
x800pro - $479
1x200gb $122 Mwave http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec.hmx?scriteria=AA25650
DVD-RW 8x $100
TV card (any good one under 100 bucks with the chip you got you don't really need on board encoding)

comes out to around 1500 which leave you 400-500 for monitor of your choice.
this setup will be much better than a p4 setup because in 2 or so years 64bit will be really catching on which will give you a boost in speed that the p4 will not give.

i agree with falloutboy525, or i would get a decent laptop, and if you need storage, an external hd, $1900 is alot of money, have you looked in the fs/t section? alot of people sell their stuff that is only a couple months old, that is alot of money in my opinion, but hey everyone's got one

Don't know if you would be interested, but check the FS/FT forum for Mangler's post. He has a nice deal on a 3.2EE. Could save yourself a few bucks that way.
