Going to Asia with an android phone

A Nexus 4...which hopefully will arrive in time for departure.

What apps/websites are essential while traveling? I can think of google maps and maybe yelp/foursquare (if they work at all in Asia).

Anything else? Maybe a good currency convertor is a good idea.

Depends on where, they have their own services that caters to the local area.

It really depends on your reason for travel. Is it leisure/business/long term/short term?

Yelp won't work in Asia. They use OpenRice in Hong Kong.
