They will offer you a glaucoma exam or smth of sorts. They will scare you into it by saying you masturbate too much, so you will go blind, unless you do this test. Naturally it is not covered by insurance, and you will get raped later when you get the bill.
Attention: you will not go blind if you masturbate. To prove it to the doctor, unzip your pants, whip it out and flush the dolphin right there in the office.
That seems to be a fairly arbitrary age range.Originally posted by: LeetViet
@Newbian: I'm 20 but have never went to an optometrist (that I can remember).
@djheater: I've always had trouble differentiating hues of colours. I was stupid for not addressing this sooner as Ontario's health care does not cover a visit to the optometrist for people aged 20 to 64.

Seriously, though, here's a few tips:
1. Go to a proper M.D. optometrist, not some schmuck of a technician. Of course, you can take your perscription and get a perfectly good set of glasses from LensCrafters, but you really want to get the right one.
2. Most of the tests involve sitting in space and looking at various optical illusions, tiny letters, or color spreads and saying which of the raised dots or bunnies is raised above the rest.
3. A few of the tests involve looking at the inside of the eye, checking eye pressure, et cetera. These are all non-invasive procedures that are done by looking at the eye with a giant box of lenses. Your eyes will be dilated for these, and will remain dilated for two to six hours - wear the sunglasses they give you or else.
3. Glasses are better than contacts for many reasons, the main reason being that it's almost impossible for glasses to do any damage to your eyes unless you stab yourself.
