Going to a 'Prom For Parents' event - Tux or Suit?

So my wife and I received an invitation from our friends who came up with this 'fun' idea of having a 'Prom for Parents' formal event (most of us have kids in senior year HS).

I have a nice black suit, nice black shoes, white shirt and a black tie ... which I would like to wear for this 'formal' event. That's the plan (it took a few seconds to come up with the plan).

But my wife (her own plan is still an elaborate work-in-progress) ... thinks that I should rent a tux ... else I will appear to be a cheap skate. Apart from the hassle of getting a tux ... I am not looking forward to the uptight experience. But what do I know! I am too ancient!

So what are your thoughts !

Dude wear the tux. Just think how hard your wife is going to let you bang her afterwards if you go all out on this with her. She might even let you do anal with her.

While it might be more of an expenditure, it seems the point of the event is to be more like a prom. In that case, it would make sense if you followed the usual protocol, and rented a tux.

Ultimately, would it be bad? No... the point is to have fun. Perhaps consider how much you would be willing to spend on this event. Consider how you could break down your budget, and present that to your wife. Perhaps she would be okay with a nice suit (that you already own) vs. arriving in a limo?

make sure you tell your wife that you love her, give her a promise ring, and then knock the bottom out of it.

Prom. Serious Business.

if your wife wants you to wear a tux, you should wear a tux.

Events like this are only fun if you really commit to it. If everyone half-asses it, then it's sorta awkward. Go for the tux. 🙂

Get the tux, arrive in a limo with a corsage and finish the night in the hotel room just like prom was meant to be. I bet thats what she is thinking.

Another vote for the tux. But feel free to bitch and moan about it, so that your wife feels obligated to do something special for you in return. 😉
