Going SU while in KDE desktop

Another newbie question: I login to Mandrake 9.1 and automatically enter KDE. I want to start up Konqueror and install LinNeighborhood. To do this, I have to be in superuser mode. How do I get in superuser mode from KDE? I could logout and login as root, but am hoping that is not necessary. I tried 'su' from a Konsole window, but I believe that the mode doesn't apply to the KDE session running Konsole. 😕

When you run su, it spawns a root shell. I don't get how you are installing "LinNeighborhood" (never heard of it), you should be able to download a package and install it via command line as root, no problem.
