Going parts shopping, please recommend.

Living in Canada, all my prices are in CAD and I cannot buy from newegg.com. I intend to overclock just avout everything I can on the comp, though I have no idea how. I am going to have to read some beginner's guides. Throw advice in here too, if you'd like.

CPU
Conroe E6600

Motherboard
The recommended conroe motherboard. I do not intend to ue SLI, prices are just too crazy.

Video Card
The price is right for me, and reading the mid range gpu article, it performs quite well. However, it does not seem to be clocked as fast as the one they used, can anyone clarify? My assumption is I can just overclock it myself.

The 7950GX2 is $599.99. So is the x1900 XT. Way overbudget.

There is this card from ATI that seems cheap enough, but with no GT or XT attachment, as well as unspecified clock speeds, I remain skeptical.

RAM
I don't know what ram to buy. I'm looking for PC6400, and the couple I've found are either too expensive, or not recommended.

This, and this both suit my needs (price and performance wise). However, people have said they are having difficulty with them. Should I avoid them completely? If not, is the platinum worth the bump in costs (someone said the platinum was better for ocing)?

If I am to avoid them, should I settle with the xtra price and grab this instead.

Hard Drive
Works for me.

Case and Power Supply
I do not know what wattage power supply I am going to need with the above hardware. From what I've ready, 400W covers pretty much everything, however it can also be excessive. If everything is going to be overclocked, should I go even higher?

My assumption is I'm going to need a case designed for cooling, and not just a box to hold everything. So I assume I'm going to need to buy a case w/ a case fan. I see alot on these forums bashing antec, so I don't know whether to avoid them, they seem to be a dominant case maker.

Cooling
As well, I have no knowledge of cooling. I do know I need it, and will needa generous amount because of the ocing.

Thanks 🙂

The Antec SLK3000 is an excellent case that does not include a power supply. The Antec Solo is also good but more expensive.

Most of the Antec bashing is from some power supply problems they had, not from their cases.

For PSU's 400 watts is excessive for a low end PC but a 7900GT is not low end. A Seaonic S12 430 watt would be a good choice, but the store you link to doesn't carry it. Check NCIX and others.
