LED lights in general are overrated in my opinion. Talking strictly looks here, not lighting ability.

And really... why do daytime running lights exist?

With a sea of silver and grey cars in an overcast day it's easy to miss them with a quick glance. Having DRL's gives an extra level of visual recognition to help you see them. It's the same reason that motorcycles are required to have headlights.

Meh. If it's dark enough that you car is hard to see, you should know to turn the lights on.

The constant trend of dumbing down cars for people with the inability to think, especially with the amount of 3 ton SUV's and 300hp+ cars driven by complete r-tards, if goddamn scary.

I say everyone should have to drive a car with a manual trans, manual lights, minimal electronics, ect. And if they can't manage...take the damn bus and get off the road.

But maybe I'm especially jaded because I live in the shit-driver capital of the world.

I really do not like the "styling" of DRL's these days (it is the least favorite part of our car). I do think they offer a new level of safety though. It is very easy for another car to see you coming down the road mid-day.

AND YOU'RE NOT GETTING THAT FRISBEE BACK, EITHER.

...really, though, I can't imagine I'm that alone in that sentiment. I mean, I like electronic gizmos and whatnot as much as anyone, but there just seems to be too much emphasis on making your drive easy and comfortable and luxurious.

Sure, that sounds great on paper, but I don't want relaxed, distracted and/or generally inattentive people...you know, like...murdering me with their car. If everyone drove with the suspicious awareness that I did...I wouldn't have to be so suspiciously aware.

I do support the anti-drowse systems. Except it should sense any time you take your eyes off the road, and respond by actuating a seat-mounted dildo to jolt you back into reality.

Just give me some gauges and 3 pedals.

Reminds of the time where this girl didn't know how to turn off her headlights :D

I couldn't disagree more, with every aspect of your post.

I won't type too much but LED lights are superior in every way, and daytime running lights are useful regardless of if you think they are or not. It makes the car more visible at distance and in regard to what the car is doing. They're an added element of safety.

I could not agree more with this.
One reason I liked my 8th gen Civic when I bought it. It's simple.

I miss 90's cars.. Everything now is unnecessarily complicated.

It's not for the dark, and it's not dumbing down. It's proven to make cars more visible to other drivers. Are you honestly complaining that a car has a FEATURE that makes you less likely to be hit by an "r-tard"?

Day time running lights are a VERY good feature. It improves visibility of the vehicle by sometimes 5 times. Though I think it would be nice to have an option to turn them off(other than starting the car with the parking brake on, automatic transmission). But if you can turn them off then they should come back on the next time you start your vehicle.

I hate people who turn their high beam headlights on during the day for visibility. Dude, I can see your low beams just fine, I don't need the super bright spots and glare from your high beams!

BS. People looking down at their cell phones aren't going to see any lights anyway.

It's purely styling and getting attention with something that looks new, cool, and shiny, which is the priority of 98% of car buyers.

I can toggle it on and off using the touchscreen interface of my car. It allows me to use them when it's foggy without messing with the automatic headlights, which is wonderful. Then I can flick them off when its clear.

Whenever I see someone driving at night with their lights off, guess what it usually is? A car with auto lights.

"No need to check the headlight switch, I have an 'automatic' setting so that MUST be what it's on! Herp-a-dee derp."

So you keep a book listing all cars made with auto headlights and you peer in to confirm that the knob is set to "auto" and not off? You realize that cars with auto headlights also have a manual on and off option as well, right? I think you're just pulling shit out your ass.

Or you're confusing DRLs with auto on/off lights. I have seen people driving with just the DRLs on and I've done it myself in previous cars but only on well-lit roads or in parking lots briefly before I realize the dash isn't lit up. Automatic on/off headlights eliminate this issue entirely.
