Going on my first cruise

Any hints, tips or advice? We were supposed to stop in Mexico but I guess they don't want us to get swine flu so now we're stopping in Catalina instead.

I am looking for a cruise and just saw a 4 days out of long beach, CA for $144+ tax and fees, so probably around $220, not too bad. How far is long beach from LAX?

about a half hour drive. its not far just a pita to get to.

Find some fake plastic bottle caps online and you can smuggle alcohol onto the ship. It makes it look like the bottles are sealed. Alcohol is fairly expensive on most cruise lines, and any alcohol you buy on your island stops is usually confiscated until your cruise is ended. That is if you drink.
