Going from PIII 1Ghz to Celeron 1.3 Ghz is it a wise move?

Going from PIII 1Ghz @ 133Mhz fsb AND 128 regular SDRAM,
to the .13 micron celeron running @ 100 fsb...
But my moterboard is based on SIS 635 chipset (ECS P6S5AT) and it supports DDR RAM,
so I am getting 256 Mb of PC 2100 DDR RAM as well.
Do you think that the new setup will be faster than the PIII based one?
WHat are my chances of hitting 133 fsb on that thing?

There is no chance the 1.3GHz version will hit a 133MHz fsb. Remember the socket 370 format is very memory bandwidth limited, it might be better to just get another stick of 128MB PC-133, DDR doesn't seem to give it much of a boost. I would personally get the 1GHz version, it is cheaper and will usually hit at least 140MHz fsb speeds. If you PIII is a 133MHz version and you go to a 1.3GHz Celeron on a 100MHz fsb, you will only see a small gain. But if you get a 1GHz version and overclock it to 1400MHz, then you will have a 400MHz boost, a little extra memory bandwidth, and data prefetch, as well as running cooler than you do now. If you board limits you to a 133MHz fsb, the 1.0a will still work very well. You could also try the 1.1a, alot of people are getting a 133MHz fsb out of that, but it is not guaranteed like the 1.0a.

Makes sence....
Too bad I have already ordered the 1.3 Ghz Cely and DDR.... I might sell this setup to somebody for dirt cheap soon then....

Should go for the 1.0A or 1.1A tops if you want a chance to hit 133. I just set up a 1.1A and got it to 1.466 with stock voltage(no adjustment on my asus tuv4x🙁) and a GW fan with an 80mm quiet sunon.

The ddr should help a lot as the sdram in sisoft sucks but everything else is pushing my XPs!
