is it absolutely neccesary to have to reinstall the OS? how well does detonator destroyer work? reason i am asking is becuz i am going to be giving my cousin a radeon8500 to replace his gf2 gts card... if it is gonna be such a big hassle that he needs to nuke his OS... i might have second thoughts in doing so. comments/suggestions? 🙂
 
you can do it .
uninstall all the software and drivers at the same time , then reboot. force windows to install the standard VGA drivers.
then make sure you got rid of all the nvidia stuff.
then install the radeon.
works for me about 95% of the time

Your giving it to your cousin ???? Family sucks, just send me the card. I'd be more than happy to take it, ill even trade you a dvd drive, microsoft sidewinder controller, gf2 gts, and maybe something else for it 🙂
