As the title says finally caning ATT and testing Straight Talk on T mobile network. (have horrible ATT service at new house)

ATT bill was $65 a month, ST is $45 :D

I know I can unlock my Samsung Note 2 for T mobile bands but this phone size bugs me when hiking and biking. So trying to cheap Nokia 521 picked up for $118.

Am I insane? Gonna be odd going back to Windows Phone, But pandora suppose to be ad free on it for 2013. Which I use a lot.

No, you aren't insane. I use mine more as a secondary device because it's great for all the media services (Xbox Music/Zune, Nokia Music, Pandora) and since I have a microSD in mine it stores all the music without having to worry about apps or whatever else filling it up. Spotify is also available, but I haven't used it on WP8, only Android and desktop.

If you are "going back" to Windows Phone, then the adjustment shouldn't be too hard.

The only adjustment to me is obviously the screen size, and depending on how much you actually used your Note 2 to consume media (reading, web browsing, gameplaying) will depend on your adjustment period. I think it won't be too much. I went from a 5" device to a 3.5" and then back up to 4.8" and everything was fine with me.

One thing to note is that ST is apparently a data Nazi. If you use too much, they throttle you. If you use WAY too much, they cancel your service without telling you. So be weary...

The nokia 521 and windows phone is pretty decent, their maps app in particular is pretty good. Coming from an N4 the battery life on windows phone was insane.
IMO windows phone just needs a killer flagship hardware line to cement itself.

The Nokia 521 is a good phone for the price. But dang, I don't think I could ever go from a really nice Android phone to a Nokia 521. I have a Nexus 4 and I can't even fathom doing that.

Why not get a Nexus 4? The price has been cut to $250 (16GB model)?

PS. I do own a Nokia 521 as well just to play with. But it'll never ever become my primary phone.

I don't think nokia has any 1080p phones and all the nokias I've seen are fat. Not high end enough.

That is a Windows Phone 8 limitation. Windows Phone 8 GDR3 coming real soon will add 1080p support, so we'll see phones with that resolution then.

I listen to music ALOT. So the pandora no ads for free on windows phone 8 was a huge reason. Plus hiking and biking the Note2 was just to big.

You are insane for buying a phone that size if you knew you had such an actively lifestyle.

Hell I wouldn't by a phone that size unless I walked with a bloody briefcase to carry that slab in.

The only problem is thank's to it's enormous bezels and 6" screen it manages to make even the Note 2 look tiny.

If I wanted a phone that size I'd get one of the cell enabled Note 8's

Bezels don't look that big. I think people overemphasize bezel size. In comparison shots they look big, but when you have the device in your hand it isn't an issue, at least not for me.

6" does make it a large phone, though. I'm not interested in getting one simply because I don't want a phone that big, but some people do.

The bezel negligible difference. I don't get the hubbub

I don't get it, either. Especially when the phones people are lauding for having thin bezels tend to have some of the ugliest, glossy, slippery, cheap looking bodies and screens (or even backs) that get easily damaged.

Nokias might have thicker bezels - and it's not something I've ever heard someone cry about who owns a Lumia - but their phones have the best polycarbonate/plastic bodies out there, and there phones tend to be a lot sturdier than most.

I do agree the Nokia feels super sturdy. Way better than other phones I have owned that cost me more.

+1, It's a real shame that the media *cough anandtech* isn't bothering to make the comparison of the 5c to any of the Nokia's.

Well randomly my Straight Talk on T mobile network just stopped working around 1800 today. Have not been able to connect to internet nor get picture message. My APN setting are what multiple sites say they should be and worked fine for almost a week.

Do you have an option to enter the "Access Point" in the settings screen?

If you do, add another connection with the same settings, switch to it and back. I had that same issue for my 920 when I switched to T-Mobile for travel and back to Rogers LTE.
