Going from HD5770 to HD6950 - do I need to un/reinstall my drivers?

Just curious if I have to bother with driver uninstall/reinstall when both cards are AMD cards and I already have the drivers I want to run installed (11.3, which are working perfectly for my HD5770 right now and given all the issues with Catalyst drivers, I'd like to avoid creating any issues by un/re installing them if I don't have to when upgrading the card).

Thanks.

Yes uninstall and reinstall.but before you uninstall hit the factory defaults button under preferences.I upgraded from a 4830 to 5850 and i uninstalled and it still set the 5850 clocks to 700/1100,the clocks i was running on the 4830

You should, based on the fact alone that these 2 cards have different architectures and so they will need different drivers to drive them.

I switched out my failing 5870 for my old 4890 without having to reinstall drivers. All I had to do was boot normally, Windows would make some changes that required a reboot, and after that all was well. The drivers that are installed is the 11.4 previews.

I recently upgraded from 5770 CF to a 6950 and did the uninstall reinstall and it seems to have worked as expected. Pretty big jump in power too, I thought my 5770 CF were decent. The 6950 smokes them.

I just did a switc from x1900xt to 6950 by installing the 11.3 catalyst without uninstalling all the previous drivers, my games like metro, steam & BF2 would crash for no reason. I have just uninstalled all drivers, ran driver sweeper on safe mode, & then installed 11.3 in normal mode, i have not tested anything, but will let you guys know how it goes
