My Epox 8RDA board doesn't like a FSB higher than 182 and my XP-M 2600+ is kinda running crippled at only 182x12.5. I was thinking about picking up one of the Shuttle Nforce2 boards from Newegg, or picking up a decent Nforce2 board off the FS/FT that can do 200+ FSB with no problems.

Since I'm staying with the Nforce2 chipset, I shouldn't have to repair or reinstall XP should I? I'm thinking I should be able to plug-in the new board and go.

wrong. by the way, i had the same board 1 month ago. I upgraded to epox 8rda3I inorder to oc my 2500+ to 3200+ at 200 fsb X 11 = 2.2Ghz. I had to reinstall the os. my os acted really messed up upon the initial test use after the mobo swap and b4 the reinstall of the os.

Just do chipset uninstall and swap board and reinstall chipset driver. No repair or reinstall of XP needed.

Just uninstall the NV chipset drivers. Don't reboot. Manually uninstall all the NF2 related items in the Device Manager. Reboot into safe mode. Run driver cleaner and get rid of all NF2 drivers using Driver Cleaner.

Shut down and swap mobos. Boot up and let windows detect what it can. Then install the NV UDPs. Reboot.

I did this very thing when I upgraded from NF2-400 Ultra to NF3-250Gb. Not a problem.

Umm... You want step-by-step? :)

1) Go into Add or remove programs and remove Nvidia NF2 drivers
2) Shut down PC and swap board.
3) Power on and configure bios and then reinstall Nvidia NF2 drivers upon boot into XP.

I've done this countless times with my 8rda+ and NF7-S. Since then I upgraded to Asus K8V SE Via K8T800 chipset and Chaintech VNF3-250 NF3. I've never repaired or reinstalled XP. Back and forth between NF2 to Via to NF3. Never a problem. I've never had a problem swapping graphics card using this method either. Have swapped ATI and Nvidia card countless times and never a problem. I don't bother with Driver Cleaner but it might not be a bad idea to use it.

I have built a lot of computers and most of the abit boards bottom out around 215-220. My epox 8rda+ did 215. I have a DFI Infinity board that does 250fsb. It appears that your greatest chance of doing a really high fsb would be with a DFI board. As luck would have it I just ordered the shuttle board because it is for my 7 year old. He has been using my 8RDA+ and now it is messed up. It keeps cutting off and the caps are bulging and leaking. It has finally given up.

Well, I'm still using Mushkin PC2700 RAM, so I doubt I'll be able to push it to extreme limits. I do know that it's the board that's holding me back, as I tried it with a stick of PC3200 RAM and it still becomes unstable above 182 FSB.

My Epox 8rda+ is still running strong and it maxed out at 228 fsb with official bios. My Abit NF7-S only got 210 fsb or so with official bios until I tried one of the modded bios. With the modded beta bios my NF7-S can hit 250fsb. If you've NF7-S and want to hit high FSB, you have to use user modded beta bios.
