Going from DMA to PIO then BACK to DMA?

Well I was installing the new firmware for my Sony DRU500A burner...and it instructed me to disable DMA.

I did this through the Device Manager -> IDE Channel (primary and secondary) -> Advanced and then changed the "DMA if available" setting to "PIO."

Well the installation went fine and all..but when I restarted windows and went to change it back to DMA the "advanced" tab that had the DMA setting in it
was not there anymore...not grayed out either..it just simply didn't exist.

How do I go back and enable DMA? I searched in the BIOS for an option..I may have overlooked one but I'm pretty sure there is no option for it.

I found a registry hack online but I'd like a little more secure and reliable way of doing it if possible.

I'm runnin Windows XP and have an Asus P4PE motherboard.

Thanks!
