I have a spare PC around that i'd like to hookup to my TV downstairs to watch some movies. Problem is ATM i only have a S-Video connection available. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to output video from a PC to a HDTV? I'd like to use composite or DVI connection.

To keep the answer short and simple - use component/vga/dvi/hdmi - any of those will be able to pass hd resolutions

Svideo is limited to 480i standard defintion and is obviously not something you want to use

Go with nvidia if you use the HDTV DVI - they have a nice GUI now to eliminate overscan and I had horrible luck trying to use the base ATI drivers to accomplish the same thing.

With ATI evidently you need to play around with power strip to get the image correct. I didn't have the patience so I didn't try it. Also, I think that using the component connection, you get to spend $30 for it and play with powerstrip. Does your GF2Ti have DVI? If you TV does too, that would be a much easier route to go.

Then if your content is not HD and you have no intention of HD in the future, any VGA video card with DVI out should work for SD material.

that's what i thought. DVI out to component cable and use fo drivers(future drivers 4.7 or 4.8 are supposed to support it according to aannd article)

Straight DVI out would be the easy way, seeing as how Transition's TV has a DVI input.
