yea i know HUGE preformance increse in games and crap like that that not what im asking about

i run a dual mon setup currently and im curious as to how well ATIs software works for this, the Nview software is pretty nice and im used to it, only better stuff is from matrox, so how is that ATI dual mon softeare? is it easy to setup and such. also do I need to do anything special to remove teh nvidia drivers before I install the ATI ones?

also any 2D quality incresements or no

actually it won't be huge preformance increase until you start cranking AA an AF ;) But if you plan on the same resolution without bumping up the eye candy than you won't see as much of a difference ;)

If you take the ability to run dx9 games/apps into the equation, yes its a big big boost. Some 9700 pro's still have the potential to get close to 9800pro clock speeds.

Edit: As to regards for 2d signal quality, you might notice a difference, you might not. My Gigabyte geforce2pro had superb 2d quality, where as my Ti4200 is quite average.

Whatever you're smoking, I want some! The 4600 is a great card, I had it for a few years before throwing it in my HTPC and upgrading to a 9800pro. Disregarding aa/af the 9800 is far faster, but then you start cranking aa and especially af and the difference in image quality is stunning.

Doom3 is optimized for nVidia cards & runs better on them by a good margin; my 4600 would do 10x7, high quality, no aa/af of course... though granted I'm not one of those people who feels uncomfortable under 100fps. Don't expect the 9700 to be that much better for that title... though for others it should kick the 4600's ass, especially with aa/af.
