going from a athlon xp 1600 to a 2000

mobo is a abit kr7a 133r and highest cpu is an amd 2000xp would there be any point or should i buy a new mobo that supports a barton? im mainly looking to play doom 3

I'd go "XP 2000" if I were on a very strict budget unless the KR7A unofficially supports 2400+ and/or 2600+ Thoroughbreds. Otherwise, skip Barton and go for a Athlon 64.
