What I mean is that I currently have IE 5.5, Outlook 5, and all the latest security patches etc installed with my Win98SE OS. When I load up W2K, am I gonna lose all that? I mean, no biggie; I have DSL so it would take but maybe an hour to DL them all again. Are the security patches diff for W2K. Gonna buy it today!

It sounds like you're not going to do a format before installing Win2k, something which I would advise against. Just doing an upgrade from Windows 9x will still leave you with stability problems, and a reformat/install is generally the best solution.

Check out this link for more detailed information: Win2k Tweaks

he's right... do a clean install... that way you won't run into problems...

ofcourse... some may have gotten away from it.. but do it the right way :)

2k will love you more too!!!!

Good recommendation, Digobick. (Your nick cracks me up, BTW! :)) How will this work if I get the W2K "upgrade" version, though? I guess before it loads, it'll ask me for my copy of Win98, I sway out the CD's the swap'em back?
