I am taking the wife and kids to a great state park with deer and such, and am wonderingwhat the best bait is to lure a deer into our campsite for pictures etc...? Last year we had some wonder through but they didn't want our bread :(

My kids would love to feed a deer :)

don't do it, that is a very bad idea

find a petting zoo somewhere

also, watch out for ticks, they are thick this year

Don't feed any wild animal. You are doing them a disservice and possibly endangering yourself and your family.

do a search on google for "deer attacks" , people are hurt by wild deer every year, don't become a statistic/darwin award nominee

lmao that was funny.

Anywho, when I was in boyscouts awhile ago, I was tented with some moron friend. In the middle of the night he opened a can of pizza flavored pringles in the tent and they exploaded everywhere (damn adhesive on the seal was strong as hell). We were like "Awww fvck!" and we picked up the chips, but the flavoring was all over the tent.

So when I awoke the next morning, there was a BIG ass hole in the side of the tent (Some raccoon, squirels, bears, etc. did it) which took almost 2 rolls of duct tape to cover :0

Where do you live that seeing a deer is exciting? They're all over the place out here. They seem to be attracted to the front of cars.

I'd also advise you to be wary of ticks. They can be brutal little suckers. Several people got them when I went camping last week in Massachusetts. One guy had one in THE WORST possible spot. I've never seen one before, and I had 2 this year. And they suck so be careful.

I don't even want to know.. heh.

I've been camping lots, and have lived in the mountains probably half my life all together.. used to play in the woods nonstop.. Never had a tick. Maybe they're not that common in Oregon?

Wowa. I didn't know I would have such a huge "DO NOT FEED THE ANIMALS" turnout to this question.

I am one that would obey any sign that I seen that said not to feed the animals, but just seeing everyone do it last year when we went, I wanted to do it this year for my campsite. Nothing like waking up to 5+ deer within eyeshot of my tent window.

For those who wanted to know where I took the family, we went to Lake Kissimmee State Park.

Also, I didn't take anything to lure the deer into our campsite, but they came through on like the 3rd morning for my wife a 2 of my kids. 2 Doe and 2 yearings. I missed it but I was out on Lake Kissimmee fishing wish my 3rd kid :)
