Going back to the beginning of his Presidency to today how do you rank danger for Trump?

1) At this moment I'll go with today's news of fraud and where that might lead.

2) Stormy and illegal campaign activities.

3) Russia probe.

That's a quick and not all-inclusive list of what I see as being the greatest threat to Trump's tenure in office/criminal repercussions.

Discuss/amplify.

1. Stormy+
2. Mueller probe
3. Recent financial accusations / tax evasion

Largely, the ranking is more about how close those threats are to hitting rather than their magnitude. I think there are others (e.g. emoluments case) that aren't getting much press attention but may become relevant. But the listed ones are likely overt serious crimes with major consequence at least when he is out of offense. Assuming our government doesn't collapse by then.

I was anti Clinton, anti Trump at election time. Today I'd vote for Trump in a heartbeat, he is proving to be exactly what America needs.

I'll take "none as long as the GOP is in charge for $200, Alex". They are all in on the Good Ship Trump. Hoping it hits an iceberg or two.

But if I had to pick something, I'd pick NY state charges that (unfortunately) probably wouldn't take effect until after Trump's 2nd term.

You weren't allowed to vote for anyone, anyway, because aliens aren't allowed to vote in US elections.

Rats are the biggest danger to Trump. There weren't any when he won & now the fucking things are everywhere, you know? Really big ones, too.

Meh. So long as he has title of President he's largely untouchable. Even if the dems manage to take both sides of congress, the craven GOP will never convict on charges for impeachment.

^This. The plus side all the other stuff coming out will mean that Trump has no chance in 2020.

As long as Democrats get out and vote, they have a bad habit of sitting on their hands while the Right votes religiously and always.

Well, if they don’t get off their asses to vote Trump out, then there’s just no hope for the party.

Neither will the GOP with Trump at the top of the ticket. He's been a useful idiot so far and a complete PITA at the same time. If they take an ass whupping in November they'll probably be a whole lot more amenable to President Pence.

Why does that not comfort me? The true believers won't even have to hold their nose when they vote for him.

I wasn't strictly talking impeachment but let's consider likely consequences to midterms. At the very least the House is Dem, but there's also an apparent very real chance to take the Senate.

In the case of just the House, the Dems control legislation coming out especially for those regarding Federal monies. If the Senate is gotten too then the Republicans are powerless and sidelined. The Dems will start disassembling the entire Republican agenda and more, implement their own to compensate. Also the Dems can have as many committees and investigations into Trump, his family and anyone including Republican Congressmen as they please. The Dems can destroy the Republican with extreme and justified prejudice and there's nothing they can do.

They could gut and eat the GOP with enthusiastic support from a great number of people, or cut their losses and go with Pence. They'll still have their programs dismantled but they won't automatically be subject to investigations involving possible illegal activities, something entirely possible.

So the question after midterms is who is immolated, Trump or the Republicans themselves. Will they accept huge tax increases on their friends and supporters and have their legislation held hostage?

How many limbs are Republicans willing to saw off the elephant to save Trump?

Then I sincerely hope the GOP gets their ass whupping. I’ll do my part.

I would say:

1) past financial activity (tax returns)
2) mueller
3) everything else

This is all predicated on the Democrats getting at least one house of Congress. If they fail to do that he has a blank check for continued, unlimited corruption.

His greatest threat is if Mueller/Rosenstein don't wait until after the midterms over an irrelevant protocol.

He'll never get removed from office no matter what is revealed. I don't think there's much political risk either. His approvals are near bottomed out, bolstered by the economy. The economy going south is the only thing which will move that needle lower than high 30's.

The biggest danger he faces is that the day he leaves office, he may just be getting off Marine One and walking straight into an arrest and an orange jumpsuit. Let's hope it's 2020 that this happens, not 2024.

If we're talking about long term legal jeopardy, it's the Mueller probe. Dollars to donuts, Manafort has told Mueller that in that Trump Tower meeting, the parties involved agreed that the Russians would help Trump in exchange for repealing the Magnitsky Act.

That's true in the current situation, however, I do wonder what happens if Dems take Congress. At that point Republicans may face a choice between saving Trump or their agenda to benefit the wealthy and corporation as Dems will control legislation. Burn themselves or Trump.
