Going back to school...

Lifer
I graduated from DeVry with a bachelors in Computer Engineering Technology. (Please don't flame me about that.)

I have a decent job, and they pay for tuition 100%. Because I went to DeVry, I missed out on the classes that I really wanted to take, just for me.

I really want to take some History, Astronomy, and Physics (quantum and/or relativity). We had a few physics classes, but it was based mainly on signal processing and such. I like to read about String theory, General Relativity, and Quantum Mechanics. I don't know crap about the actual formulas, I just like learning the theory, and maybe some basic mathematics behind it.

I definately am not ready for Graduate level physics or anything like that, so I was thinking about getting an associates' degree in science or something. Something that I could just go to school for me...

Anyone know what I am looking for? Just a round about basic level degree, or not even a degree... I just wanna go to school because it's free and I love lectures.

Maybe a community college would be good for that?

Please don't bash me for going to DeVry. I know how this forum and most "real" engineers feel about DeVry. That is in the past, and there is nothing I can do about that. DeVry got me a good starting job, so that's all I care about. [/standard stickup for DeVry section]

Wow, you want to take Quantum Physics and you went to devry.

you might want to check with your company about the tuition reimbursement. most of them want you to take classes related to work or lead to a higher position within the company. They won't pay just because you want to know why E = MC^2. 😉

You gotta understand... I came from a small school out in the middle of nowhere... I really didn't know what the whole college thing was about. No one in my family had ever went to college. DeVry seemed like a good choice because it was directly related to work.

Now I see that I enjoy learning for learning's sake. DeVry is still a good school, but it is not the place to go if you want to learn about theory.
