Going back one page still takes a long time

I remember a long time ago when I used Netscape, I would somtimes need to go backwards one page. The web page would load up FAST. However that is almost never the case with IE 5 and 6. Almost no matter which web site I visit, when I go back one page, it still takes too long to load up the page. It should be "quick" to load up. In fact, it's almost as if I am visiting the web page for the first time. There is a ~4 second delay, then the web page loads up. I have cable modem.

Any tips or suggestions on making the IE web page load up faster when I hit the BACK button?

Lately, when I visit Amazon.com, I get a warning "page expired", but I am only visiting the items, not buying anything.

One setting you could check:

Internet Options>Temporary Internet Files>Settings>

If 'Automatically' is checked change it to 'Every Time you start Internet Explorer.'

I appreicate your response. I tried it, but it didn't work. So, I tried something else that seemed to fix the "page expired" warning problem. Apparently, my internet temp files were bloated and I ran out of internet temp space. However, deleteing the temp files would cause my browser to hang each and every time. The fix for that was to clear history, delete cookies, and then delete the temp files. Since then, I am no longer getting "page expired" warning message.

But I do not know what is the optimal internet temp space should be. Right now, I have my set to 500 MB because I don't know any better. I noticed when I hit the back button, the web page loads up faster. So....... maybe 500 MB is too big. Maybe I am wrong, but I think we have no choice but to manually delete our internet temp files once in awhile. I don't think IE will do it for us.

Okay, another setting in Internet Options:

Open Advanced and check the box beside: Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed.

I think that 500 setting is way too big. Try something more like 100-125.
