going away for a month, any advice on how to store my car

Are there any special measures I should take with my car.

Its gonna be sitting around for a month,

Make sure the tires are properly inflated, disconnect the battery (you might want to get a trickle charger for it). When you get back you should change the oil right away. You shouldn't have to worry about the gas going bad if it's only for a month.

Sounds about right.

it probably won't go below 60

I probably wouldn't do anything but cover it.
My Honda sits for a month at a time often and it starts right up and runs fine.

For a month? I don't think changing the oil would be necessary, especially if it's not going to dip below 60 degrees.

better remove the headlight fluid. it can get unstable if the headlights aren't turned on for over 2 weeks.

What should he do when he gets back?

Also, pretend he was gone for longer than a month...say a year
Check tire pressure
Add fuel stabilizer and run engine for a couple minutes
Make sure coolant is up to snuff in cold climates
Change oil
Disconnect battery and hook to "smart" trickle charger
Cover or plug intake and exhaust
Cover car

A month? Dont need to do anything.. just let it run for a few minutes before driving it upon your return... Change the oil if you are really anal...

I hope the wheel bearings are in good shape.

When the car is moving the weight shifts to different rollers within the bearing cup. Because it will be sitting for a month, all the weight of the car will be placed on only a few specific bearings for an extended period of time.
