GOG to sell System Shock 2

It will be available tomorrow and has been tested to work on XP/Vista/7/8. I still have an original version with the box, but it's always such a hassle to get working. I did not see if this will include the latest "patch" from last September.

I'm in the same spot. I've gotten it working here and there, but it's a pain. I'd love for this to come to Steam, but I'm willing to get it form GoG.

"System Found! Loading in 18:41:50.." and counting on the GoG site... I'm excited!

There were a lot of rendering errors for this and the early thief games when used with modern dx10+ video cards. There are some community patches that fix them but it was quite the effort. It will be interesting to see what they have done there.

They should do a re-release of SS1 + SS2 with a new engine and new art, but with nearly exact movement/feel, and with identical story/content 🙂

No effort these days, there's a single patch that brings everything up to date for both System Shock 2 and the Thief series. Of course you can always grab some of the great texture mods for the games, but that's obviously optional.

Nice. This game was a bit before my time, so I never actually played it. Now will be the perfect opportunity.

I would pay retail prices for that.

Will have to try this with my retail disc.
