Lots of flash and very high production, but, can it really be any better than "Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack" from 2001.

Critics and fans have been pretty hard on any material in the Godzilla universe for a while now. More recently "Godzilla Planet of the Monsters" came out on Netflix and it had all the impact of a soggy wet box being dropped from a 2nd floor window. Don't understand why as the animation was good and the writing (while not Shakespeare) was good enough and put a new twist on a somewhat tired genre. The Netflix version is obviously dubbed/sub-titled but the below gives you an idea.

For the new movie, it looks like all the human characters are CGI, is this correct? Godzilla looks more natural than the humans. Anyway, looks like fun.

I really liked Godzilla 2014.

As a Godzilla fanatic (I own and have seen every GZ movie) I do hope there is more than 12 minutes of monster footage and that some of it is during daylight hours. I want to see these monsters in great detail!

I saw it last night finally, I liked it and the music and cinematography were great. But somehow they decided to double down on the biggest complaint of the first movie. No one cares about the humans, stop cutting away from the monster fights every 20 seconds to show useless humans dodging debris for two minutes. I came here for one thing, to see giant monsters beat the hell out of each other. And if you just have to give me more stupid human stuff then it should have just been more of Tywin Lannister berating people.

Same here ... sadly I'm debating going by myself later today since apparently nobody I know locally has any interest in seeing it with all the crappy reviews.
