I had no idea they were coming to LA this month I would have fucking got tickets way earlier, now they're sold out. I can get shitty seats to the Irvine show probably, but I'm really annoyed that I didn't pay attention to Tom Petty playing at the Hollywood Bowl.

Because I'm annoyed as hell and wasn't thinking. I know it's wrong, but I do it all the time just because of the short hand when typing. Here let me edit it and fix it for you BoomerD. Because "have" is much more important than me not seeing Tom Petty and ZZ Top you inconsiderate prick!(jk)

Tom Petty....meh.

ZZ Top would be fun to check out if it was a rib fest or something like that. No way I'm paying more than 40 bucks for an act like that without access to tasty ribs.

Man can't believe the two TP haters wtf is that shit? Tom Petty rules as does ZZ Top. Not to mention this is probably one of the last times I'll have the opportunity to see them together live.

I actually like Tom Petty. Just get bored at work and stir up stuff. I enjoy his older stuff though. After Wildflowers (that was the last good album) I quit listening to his newer stuff.

Tom Petty basically borrows from a genre that is dominated by much, much better acts like the Almans, Grateful Dead, Santana, The Band etc.

He's a lighter version of that stuff, perfect for fratboys and such. Just like Dave Matthews.

No fucking way you just compared Tom Petty to Dave Matthews. That's low dude, very fucking low. Not a huge Dead fan, but they're good. Definitely like the Allman Brothers and Santana.

My dad's Tom Petty Story (he dated a girl who was friends with a gf of the band): Back in the day in Gainesville, FL, when Petty was leading Mudcrunch, he gave my dad some money to get some weed. When my dad got to the dealer with Petty's and other people's money, the dealer only had acid. So, my dad bought the acid. When my dad told him this and offered him some of the lsd, Petty told him to just keep it. Then my dad filled his VW bus full of hippies and drove to some concert festival and sold the acid for a tidy profit.

Dave Matthews has a great band. I dislike most of his music, though. Talent is there, but...meh.


I compare them simply b/c he, like Petty, is more tolerable to the general public than are the real revolutionaries in that genre.
