"Nothing is confirmed" is a little different than, "they won't work on Quad formation." All data suggest that it will. The 7900GX2 they are selling is the same model used in the Quad SLI demo. That's like saying, in a demo, SLI worked on the 955/975 board, but the 955/975 boards that went into production didn't support SLI. Could this scenario be possible? Maybe, but I'd say it's HIGHLY unlikely. All data points to Quad SLI coming to a Newegg near you. 😉Originally posted by: dexvx

And what do you think they are using for Quad SLI machines? The 7900GX2 is the same card used to demo the Quad SLI machines. There should not be a problem setting it up as a Quad SLI setup if you bought two cards. The only problem I see that may need to be addressed is the PSU. This is where you may need a 1K W PSU.Originally posted by: dexvx

From what I was told QUAD Sli will not be available to us Plain Jane consumers.
I will never buy a b arebones falcon just for the cards, I'll find someone slippin 😛
They wont work on Quad formation. Thats just 2x 512 GTX's on 1 board. Buying 2 boards wont ensure Quad SLI functionality.
But yea, that is a very high resolution, coupled with a high AA/AF, its very stressing on the fill rate.
Oh, here you go. Now what was that about them not working in Quad SLI?
What about that article?
" The 7900GX2 is expected to be a dual slot, dual GeForce 7900GTX card with 1024MB of DDR3 specifically for quad-SLI."
Nothing is confirmed as of now. And in reality, its not a hardware issue (1KW PSU's do exist). Nvidia has a habit of using drivers to disable hardware things, such as the 955/975 not being able to do SLI at all.
Yes, 1KW do exist. I never said they didn't. I'm just saying this is a configuration that may NEED a 1KW PSU.
