So I am at work today and I kept getting "restricted item, customer must be 21" on my screen when customers were buying spray paint. I then was getting pissed because I thought someone put them in the computer wrong so I asked my supervisor about it. She said that she didin't know why so I asked another one. The other one told me that they must be 21 because some people huff it. I was like that is bull sh!t, I am an adult and can't buy spray paint. I then said "teens can shove pencils up thier noses too. So whats's next; age restrictions on pencils?"

Some do inhale spray paint and some also use it for graffiti.

I don't think it's a law or anything, though. It's probably just a company policy.

Who do you work for?

It's illeagal to sell spray paint to people under 18 in california. It's so they can't tag people's houses/businesses/walls/fences/cars/etc with it.

It's impossible to buy ANYTHING in CA if you're under 18 though. Cigarette lighter? nope. Pellets or BBs for air rifles? nope. Spray paint? nope. Model Airplane glue? nope. It's fvcking retarded if you ask me.

Had the same thing in Nevada when I worked at Walmart there. The worst part is that you have to be 18 to sell it as well. I wasn't, so if someone wanted to buy spray paint at my register I had to have someone who was over 18 come over and scan it. It was retarted.

Agreed. If kids weren't such fscktards and if parents weren't so fscking stupid and neglectful of the fact that their kids are hooligans these days, this wouldn't be as much of a problem.

I'll put in my vote for mandatory parenting licenses. :)

As long as stores are doing this, and not the state I don't have a problem with it. I couldn't care less about huffing, but I DO care about graffiti. I guarantee the vast majority of spray paint vandals are under 21. Limiting access voluntarily doesn't seem like a bad idea to me. Now, if it's state law, I wouldn't support that.

In the end, though, you must realize rules and laws like this are what happens when people, especially parents, adbdicate responsibility for themselves, and their kids.
