I wanted to get my fork seals on my 2001 gs500 replaced.. since the seals on back order and havent ridden all of summer, i thought okay i will top off the oil in the fork if needed and close up and ride to school.
Well so much for that.. i got the fork end caps off, topped it off with a bit of 15wt oil and then realised maybe i didnt need teh fork oil. Anycase I wanted to put it back in, and wouldnt you know it I am not strong enough to push back the progressive spring + spacer + washer .. the problem is that not only you are putting a whole lot of pressure down to get that fork compressed to scrwe it in, but you got to make sure you dont cross thread the end cap, cause its got some really fine grooves.
Bah..
So question is: Does anyone want to help me out with teh fork springs and the valves (which should be a lot easier).
Also can I borrow a hydraulic jack and 2 jack stands.. i think the last time i worked on the front forks of the bike at my friends place, the bike was on the motorcycle jack.. but unfortuantely the bike is not rideable until i get that spring fixed.
